Since 2001 Kenshokan Martial Arts has existed to promote positive growth in its members and its community. 
We remain firmly anchored in tradition while embracing and exploring the future of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu.

We also offer an After School Martial Arts Program at KSK Martial Arts. Our program provides a safe and warm atmosphere where students can decompress from the school day and complete their homework supervised by our expert staff.

History

Established in 2002.

In 2002 Sensei Poretz came to the conclusion that his next step as a martial artist would be to start a program of his own. So with 5 children from his synagogue he began KSK martial arts at the Jewish Community Center in Woodland Hills. The program became one of the most popular classes at the center and it quickly became apparent that they would outgrow the facility. A suitable location was soon found and the Kenshokan took up residence at 21151 Victory Blvd in Woodland Hills. In December we will be celebrating our 8th anniversary. The dojo has had some great success with several students becoming champions.

Gregory is a lifelong martial artist, starting in jujitsu in 1973 in Granada Hills Ca. He began teaching Jr students in 1985. He is a national jujitsu champion several times over and several of his youth and adult  students have champions under his guidance. Sensei Poretz has studied; Hwa rang do, Kung Fu, and Jo-jutsu. Tamara Poretz is co-owner and our curriculum and instructional guide. Tamara is a California credentialed teacher specializing in k-12. she operates the after-school homework club and provides guidance on the curriculum and teaching strategies of the studio. Gregory and Tamara operate their business with the goal of creating strong confident children for a better world.
